Overview

Mr. Hershey was the project manager and responsible engineer for the design of a new well and water treatment building to serve the Borough of Kennett Square. He was involved with and coordinated the well pump sizing, site piping improvements, electrical and HVAC design, structural design, site grading, E&S control, PA DEP Public Water Supply Permitting Major Amendment, bidding, and construction administration services. The facility was commissioned in December 2014.

Highlights of the project include:

• Design and permitting of a 220-gpm potable water well, building

• 8,000-gallon buried brine tank system
• Chlorine treatment
• Corrosion inhibitor
• 36-inch-diameter water main
• Provides adequate chlorine contact time to meet the groundwater rule of 4-log virus removal
